Edit CR3 Files Online
Open Canon RAW version 3 (CR3) files from Canon cameras right in your browser — decode, color grade and export JPEG in minutes. Free, no upload, no software to install.
What is a CR3 file?
CR3 is the RAW format produced by Canon EOS R5, R6 II, R8, R50, 90D, M50 II and other recent EOS cameras. CR3 replaced CR2 in 2018 and many older tools cannot open it at all — including some desktop apps. CR2 from older Canon bodies works here too.
Because CR3is a RAW format, most image viewers and web tools can't open it. OpticRaw decodes it with LibRaw — the same engine used by professional desktop software — compiled to WebAssembly so it runs locally in your browser.
How to edit a CR3 file online
- Open OpticRaw and drag your CR3 file into the window.
- Wait a few seconds while the RAW is decoded (your camera's white balance is applied as the starting point).
- Edit with Lightroom-style tools: exposure, tone curve, HSL color mixer, color grading wheels, masking brush, crop & straighten.
- Click Export to save a full-resolution JPEG or PNG.
Why edit CR3 instead of JPEG?
RAW keeps the full sensor data: highlights you can pull back, shadows you can lift cleanly, and white balance you can change after the fact. Editing the CR3 file gives dramatically better results than editing the camera JPEG — especially for exposure mistakes and tricky light.
Also works with other RAW formats
ARW (Sony) · NEF (Nikon) · DNG (Adobe (universal)) · RAF (Fujifilm) · RW2 (Panasonic) — plus ORF, PEF, SRW, CR2, NRW and more.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open CR3 files online for free?
Yes. OpticRaw decodes CR3 files directly in your browser using LibRaw (WebAssembly) — free, no watermark, no account.
Is my CR3 file uploaded to a server?
No. The file is decoded and edited entirely on your device. It never leaves your computer.
How do I convert CR3 to JPEG?
Open the CR3 file, make any adjustments you want (or none), then click Export and choose JPEG. You get a full-resolution JPEG in seconds.
Do I need Lightroom or Photoshop to edit CR3?
No. This editor gives you Lightroom-style tools — tone curve, HSL mixer, color grading wheels, masking, crop — right in the browser.
Does editing change my original CR3 file?
Never. Editing is non-destructive: the original RAW file stays untouched and you export a separate JPEG or PNG.
Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Your photos are processed on your device and never uploaded.
